The 12th Men’s U19 World Floorball Championships will be held in Frederikshavn, Denmark from 26th — 30th August 2023. Ten teams have secured their spot in the final round while the remaining six teams will be decided by regional qualifications in Europe (4) and Asia-Oceania (2). Australia, New Zealand and Singapore are playing in AOFC qualification in Wellington from 29th September — 1st October.

Australia

Short description of your team and aims at the MU19 WFCQ 2023?

Team Australia’s line up is young in age but is made up by players who live and breathe floorball as their first priority. The skillful and enthusiastic team has learnt much from the prior experiences of the Australian Men’s team and play with passion and determination. Our number one goal is to qualify for WFC 2023 in Denmark.

Photo of Thomas MeyerThomas Meyer – Tom has grown up playing floorball and when he’s not on the court playing or training, he is at home practicing his skills. A determined player, he is always looking to get the most out of his sessions.

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

Photo of Sascha DoyleSascha Doyle – An experienced goalie having lived and played in Switzerland. A determined and enthusastic player who gained experience at international level through assisting the Men’s national team and WFCQ earlier this year.

Most skilful player?

Photo of Oliver FranzOliver Franz – Oliver is a highly skilled young player who developed his craft early on whilst living in Czech Republic. He now continues improving and showcases his talent in Sydney.

New Zealand

Short description of your team and aims at the MU19 WFCQ 2023?

This year’s New Zealand Men’s U19 team is something else. After the long break over the last 3 years from international events the boys are fizzing for the opportunity to participate in a World Championship qualifier, with an excited eye on the possibility of Denmark. We have a talented eager group of lads ready to show off how much New Zealand has improved on the international stage. We are looking forward to playing some quality opposition and sharing the experience and fun with other players of the AOFC.

Rookie or young player to look out for on your team and why?

Photo of Marcus LockeMarcus Locke – This kid’s got a few aces up his sleeve. He is full of beans and jumps at every opportunity. One of our youngest players and definitely one to watch.

 

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

Photo of Samuel ElkinSam Elkin – A natural born leader and he brings energy and good vibes. Sam contributes plenty of knowledge having come through the ranks of floorball in New Zealand and was a key member of the recent NZ Men’s campaign.

Most skilful player?

Photo of Archie CosslettArchie Cosslett – Now you see him, now you don’t. He’s got speed, amazing stick control and is full of passion. A clever player and able to deliver the unexpected. Performed extremely well with the NZ Men recently in Singapore.

Which player demonstrates #FairFloorball the best and why?

Photo of Hagan MacfadyenHagan Macfadyen – Constantly ensuring his teammates are all good and encouraging the lads along, he is a valuable asset to the team. A strong player who always displays humility on and off the court, regardless of the result, and sets a good standard for other players.

 

Singapore

Short description of your team and aims at the MU19 WFCQ 2023?

A passionate and vibrant team staging their skills internationally for the first time against the other MU19 AOFC powerhouses. With few players possibly playing in this age category competition just this once due to age eligibility, the team aims to make an impactful debut and emerge as one of the teams qualifying for the WFC in 2023.

Photo of Mohammad Azmi Muhammad Darwish Aiman#9 Muhammad Darwish Aiman Bin Mohammad Azmi – Rising up the ranks, Darwish Aiman had wowed the coaches with his versatility and skills on court. Seen as a disadvantage to most, Darwish is able to make good use of his small physique to his advantage on court.

Who is a leader on and off the field and why?

Photo of Barin Muhammad Fattah#10 Muhammad Fattah Bin Barin – Muhammad Fattah radiates an influencial personality on and off the court. Well respected by his teammates, Fattah has been one of the few catalysts that gels the team together.

 

Most skilful player?

Photo of Mohamed Yazid Ayden Irfan#71 Ayden Irfan Bin Mohamed Yazid – Often mistaken for Ayden’s reserved demeanour, he is well feared and respected on the court by his fellow teammates for his finesse. A prolific player in the making.

Photo of Alexander Charles#36 Charles Alexander – A gentleman on and off the court, Charles is a magnified example of athletes who display the spirit of sportsmanship on their sleeves. His characteristic is also an indication of the depth of understanding on the rules and structure of floorball itself.
